Dear Friends,

For the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, body and soul, into heaven we will have a special Mass on Saturday, the 15th, at 9:00 am at our Nativity of Our Lord church.

The Madonna Council of the Knights of Columbus is celebrating their 120th Anniversary on the same day. Unfortunately, I have a wedding out in the suburbs, so I won’t be able to join the celebration- but all are invited to their anniversary BBQ and party starting at 3:00 pm at their clubhouse on 47th and Union. Their KofC Ladies’ Auxiliary’s Breast Cancer walk will be coming up in October.

Another great event held every August 15th is Saint Jerome’s Velika Gospa celebration. This is built around an image of the Blessed Mother, called “Our Lady of Sinj,” that is highly venerated by the Croatian community. Many already know and have taken part in this popular fest in Bridgeport. You can visit St. Jerome’s website for information about the outdoor procession, Masses, and festival.

We welcome our school teachers back into our schoolhouses this week for a series of meetings and classroom prep as they get ready to welcome our children to the 2026-2027 academic year next week!
