 Thank you to those who have made early commitments to the Generation-to-Generation Campaign. We are proud to share that our campaign has raised $338,500 thus far from 33 families, which has taken to 50 percent of the “50/50 Split” goal. Once we surpass that, 80% of those gifts will remain for parish use.
Given the capital needs of our parish, we hope to reach at least $1 million in pledges, to be paid over five years. Our share of the funds will help us to accomplish important parish priorities. Please expect to be invited to participate in the coming weeks. When you receive your invitation to participate, please pray and discern a multi-year sacrificial pledge that is right for your family. Thursday, August 15, is the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, a holy day of obligation for Catholics. Mass will be at 8am at Saint Gabriel and 6:30 pm at Nativity of Our Lord.  We are looking for a Catechist to share the love of Christ with our Level 2 Confirmation Class. The success of our Religious Education Program is due to the generosity and dedication of our Catechist who feel a calling to share and teach the Catholic Faith. Those interested should have a teaching background as well as a love for their faith. Materials will be provided for you, as well as a modest stipend. Our classes will begin Tuesday September 10th and will be held every other Tuesday through May. Our parish will be hosting a drive to seek out stem cell donations to help cancer patients this Sunday. It takes less than 5 minutes. It’s just a swab of the inside of your cheek. Attached is the flyer with more information. The picture on the flyer is of one of my great friends and fellow firefighter, Mike Lynch. Mike is a Mt Carmel grad and dad of 3. He’s a wonderful man. It appears that stem cells are in the process of saving his life from leukemia. Please consider stopping by the St Gabriel School Hall on Sunday to help. The target group is ages 18-40. The younger stem cells have better success at healing people.
